This class is designed for those interested in learning how to “see” the contours of the human face, apply lighting techniques to the face you see, and capture a personal portrait, in essence, to learn how to sculpt with light.

• Explore the Fundamentals of Portraiture and the human face and body.
• Understand the elements within the frame to Emphasize & Expression Humanity
• Understanding Angles of Light: Key-light, Hair, Eye, Background, Shoulder & Edge-light
• Fundamentals of Lighting Equipment: What to know & how to use each properly.
• Nuances of Lighting: Utilizing highlights & shadow to create shape and depth.
• “Seeing” Bone Structure: Learning how to emphasize and de-emphasize facial contour.
• Develop a Lighting Design before you shoot - addressing the space your subject occupies.
• Understanding how to build a Three Point Lighting set-up.
• Awareness of the foreground, background, and Subject Planes of Focus
• Posing Techniques - What it means to pose a subject – Organic vs. Artificial Posing.
